Aniversary Special - Unconditional Love!

A moment to reflect!

Hello MY Darlings!

Today, I decided to do a little personal reflection! &^..^&.

August 19, 2004 is MY Anniversary date, this is the day that I graduated from my college and received my degree as in clinical psychology!

Each and every day, I wake up stretching purring, rubbing my PAWS for another exciting day in the office!

I start my day with 5 minutes of stretching, a purfect facial and massage on my face. This prepares me for another busy day of clients!!! ^..^!  Well, not all days run PURFECT, there are challenges, difference in cat or dog pursonalities.  I end up being the mediator LOL!

As you may recall I spoke about a remarkable young kitten called "Dundas" who continues to be an inspiration.   I love to catch up on reading at the downtownanimalhospitaltoronto.  The veterinarians and staff there are the best world, like a second family to me. Humans, please consider adoption to enrich your lives, there is no feeling like it. The relationships you build are much like relationship you have with your human children.

Unconditional love is like the best cat food you can ever thing about or that purfect dish of warmed milk!

Our Global Village United in Friendship!

Good morning, Morning my Darlings.

(Yawning and washes paws).  I am delighted by all my visitors and love to welcome news ones. It starts me daydreaming of exotic places of travel. Cultures and cities vibrant with activity feline and canine friends ...nattering

I have always been a diplomat my darlings, thrilled by travelling and adventure ...where ever that takes me!

I  WILL root out all kinds of places to capture chicken or fish. Travelling with my servant to Cuba, we were quaffing on something exotic.   In the Caribbean when dusk falls it is like a black curtain, shrouding the landscape in a cocoon. I  heard something moving in the grass.  My eyes could not believe the shadows............

Grabbing the torch. The darkness revealed a HUGE crab the size of a dinner plate.....stunned by the light....it scampered off like the Phantom of the Opera. LOL

T.G.I.F. Fun and Frolick in Oakville

 Hello My Darlings!

A very happy Friday to you all!  I think I will organize a little luncheon with friends.

Engineering challenge!

I simply love today, as it segues into the weekend - what adventures await: Shopping, movies, pizza, salmon, milk, a trip in the car, visits from friends all of these are possibilities! These are the great 'icing on the cake' elements I so look forward to.

The sunshine dances on the window pane adding a smile as they look out onto the city below.

Luncheon awaits!  Get the chauffeur ..........(she announces... running around the room)

Toulouse selects to wine for Cat Teddy
We are off to Oakville (a visit to my humans childhood past). Graceful oak trees adorning this very palatial town, brimming of adoring shops with delights that tickle the whiskers and the heart (not to mention) Bernard Callebaut then off to Burlington for luncheon.

Perhaps an ice-cream by the Bronte Harbour....

The Thrill of the Chase

Hello MY Darlings!
We all know the expression "what a day makes" after the snow storm yesterday............

Reminds me of  that song by Dinah Washington and Tony Bennett.
It goes like this "What a difference a day made
Twenty-four little hours
Brought the sun and the flowers
Where there used to be rain".
As you know I love music, it makes me purr, my whiskers twitch and I just want to 'wiggle and giggle' and tap my paws.  Another piece of music I enjoy is the the Rukalta - "Song To The Moon" Rusalka - Song to the Moon I've been know to get me misty eyed!  Ah the moon, now we'll have to wait for a 'full' one --(looks up)...an other article awaits LOL.

The Thrill of the Chase - YUMM
My understudy is meeting me at the theatre for EARLY REHEARSALS.....has me up early practicing our lines! We had to set up a scene.  Naturally as in writing, you need to SHOW not TELL. As in acting you must look for 'truth, sincerity' in order to CAPTURE your AUDIENCE....well, I'm more interested in the FOOD.

YOU said FIND YOUR MARK

Here are a few of the THRILL episodes (before morning COFFEE, my understudy has been working too hard -- have to NATTER AND CHATTER to her about that!)!

Well what are is MY SCRIPT...   I demand it now.........

Comedians are all over the place......I haven't had MY COFFEE OR BREAKFAST....(that in in MY contract) where is the director....oh you say EXECUTIVE HOURS......................................must be nice........................!

Camera man has a strange sense of humour. where is MY UNDERSTUDY?
!

No I'm not doing a JIMMY CAGNEY
OK make it difficult now we are BLACK AND WHITE!

You think acting is easy.............WELL DARLING.....it has its challenges as does CATCHING FOOD!

WHAT.........more rehearsals ...........
....I feel a HISSY FIT COMING ON.

Well sooner or later the Understudy has to arrive?

(Day dreaming..)
NOT ANOTHER TAKE....

Purr-haps she has my coffee and toasted bagel with smoked salmon (licking lips)
Ah SAVOR THE FLAVOR!
My lady in waiting .....arrived missed the BUS! Saved by the day!

Hint: The thrill of the ride is sometimes getting their with PATIENCE!

Ciao MY Darlings.....................................(exiting stage left)..............................:)

Walking On The Wild Side

Hello My Darlings!

My human subject is writing this on my behalf....you'll see why as you read on................

Well dear readers, it was 'quite the happening party'
as I celebrated Family Day with my friends and family.

Of course as gathering and parties goo, it was VERY innocent quite civilized amongst our artistic crowd!  We enjoy the gastronomic delights and a guest brought me Catnip ....it has been a while since I had smelt the delicious aroma of teasing minty fragrance.  Like a fine wine, the finer the ingredients the better.

Definition:  Walking-on-the-wild side.   This is what one human said " It means they are living dangerously, or on the wild side. Because at any given time, the glass may crack and they all fall"

Nepeta Catnip

Here is the scoop:

Nepeta cataria (and cat mints) are mostly known for the behavioral effects they have on  felines, not only on   domestic cats. also big cats."The bigger they are the harder they fall -- LOL". Nepeta Catnip is used as a recreational substance for cat nip ( Read the warning label : don't chase mice while imbibing) and catnip and laced-catnip products designed for use with domesticated cats are available to consumers. Not all cats are affected by catnip. The common behaviors when cats sense the bruised leaves or stems of catnip are rubbing on the plant, rolling on the ground, pawing at it, licking it, chewing it, salivating....................
Pharmacology: Nepetalactone acts as a feline attractant. Roughly half to two thirds of cats will be affected by the plant.  This chemical enters the felines nose. Cats detect it through their olfactory epithelium. The phenomenon is hereditary; for example, most Australian cats do not react to it.  Humans are not removed either from being affected. Catnip has a history of human medicinal use for its soothing properties. It has also been known to have a slightly numbing effect. The plant has been consumed as a tea, juice, tincture, infusion or poultice, and has also been smoked.

PHOTO GALLERY -- Caught in the Act!

Oh my.....

I can bite through this...yes, yes!
A picture has a thousand faces
Every Diva has a Super Hero!

Momma I've got the SPINS! HELP
consuming much of the plant followed by drooling, sleepiness, anxiety, leaping about and purring. Some will growl and meow, scratch, or bite the hand holding it. Some cats will eat dried catnip. Often, eating too much can cause cats to be overtly aggressive, typically making them hiss.

 Hint:  REMEMBER Darlings, my advice.......
...if you are going  to walk-the-wild side..you'd better
be prepared for the consequences  good and bad.

Consumer catnip RESPONSIBLY .     I'm sure the ride was worth it...........
.......I'll let you know in a couple of days!

Wardrobe Challenges - Life Lessons Learned!

Hello My Darlings!

I am delighted to share with you my recent experience with "wardrobe challenges".

Oh yes, like most Diva's and Divo's (to a lesser degree) they do happen when you LEAST expect it!
In this case, it had nothing to do with the endearing PROP DEPARTMENT at the theatre where I perform, not my WARDROBE MISTRESS!

Enter stage right....here it is:

Needless to say, as I found out my character had a eye infection........
Momma "GET ME OUTTA .....HERE" don't just stand there  H E L P ME!
The Director informed me the show must go on.............."Diva get over it no more HISSY fits from you".

I told the Director: "This is not in my contract"

Alas, I tried walking in the outfit.....and kept tripping over my 'dress'.  Frustrated, I began thinking what my human had said recently" costumes need be the right length; cassocks can be problematic in CHURCH too.. if they are too long you can't navigate up steps!!

Right , how do I apply this to my situation?  I couldn't see where I was WALKING.. or going.  Use your INTUITION AND INTELLIGENCE .   "Clear heads prevail don't they"????

Diva escapes to the solitude of her DRESSING ROOM!
I flew into a emotional rage, skidding into my dressing room.  After tea and cap nip I managed to get myself into character.

I got into my character! Bringing myself into full DIVA mode. I enabled myself to get into character, drawing on my own experience with an eye infection!  I finished my play and it was a stunning performance!

:) Hint: Darlings there are often lessons to be learned when dealing with wardrobe challenges; draw on your own experiences, work through them and keep those PAWS TAPPING! :)  You never know you can share this with your young understudy!!!  Humility keep us graceful.

See you next time...........................................wink....wink.................:)

Sous Chef Experience - Diva Knows Best

Hello My Darlings!

I had the experience of a Sous Chef in my kitchen:

Sous Chef:  sous-chef (s sh f , s -sh f ). n. pl. sous-chefs (-sh fs , -sh f ). The chef who is second in authority in a restaurant or kitchen, ranking below the head chef.
(Diva's have the LAST word on this)

First hand experience is best when it comes to the kitchen! This is what you need to know:

Rule #1 - be attentive to sounds!
A . The opening of the fridge door; B. dishes being cleared from the drainer - getting ready for cooking;
C. "zip gagunk' is the opening of the tin of food; D. gastronomic odors of chicken, fish, or asparagus - ding-dong breakfast, lunch or dinner IS in the making;  E. 'tap, tap, tap' noise of fork hitting saucer means my meal is about to be served; F. the sound of the coffee grinder - coffee segues to the promise of M I L K.

You might want to share this with your canine friends - LOL :)

Happy foraging and eating..............until next time

Hunting Techniques Urban vs. Country

Hello My Darlings

I have had a lot of questions recently about hunting.
As an urban cat myself,  fresh mice are very hard to come by... you won't find them in the frozen
food section of your favourite grocery store!
So what is a girl to do?  Well, I use the 'fetch and run'
technique at feeding time.

I use my best hunting skills, pounce and run enjoying the spoils
of my labour under the table or better a chair. Hungry yet?

Love to hear from you my darling fans!

Remember: FAR (fetch and run) it's not as far as you think when it comes to FOOD

Sundays are for Slumbering

Hello Darlings!

 My thoughts.........for today

"Sundays are for SLUMBERING"

Cats sleep ...humans work
    Cats give orders..humans obey cats
       Cats eat..... humans fetch food.....
Cats have the last word.... humans wish they could

Be in the know listen to your CAT!

Bye Darlings I'm in the MUSE - see ya next time - meow.

Weekend wishes!

Hello My Darlings!

Well, well, well, the weekend is here... finally! Woo hoo!!

The cool spring air had me awake. I awoke to the sounds of chirping baby birds to my delight. Half asleep, I bounded in one fell swoop onto the window ledge, they had fled. I suspect mum had been training them in watching out for me.

I've booked myself off to enjoy Saturday and Sunday - Woo hoo time to play and create havoc - pounce on your human and wake them early!!!! (wry grin, squints eyes) LOL.  I'm going fishing at the beach today!

My agenda for the afternoon ...eat, sleep and do nothing.......I hope you do the same Darlings!

See you soon..........................meow!

Dawn Chorus

Thursday, Feb. 1st.

Good morning, Darlings.

A new month awaits us and your breakfast.

If you really want to get your breakfast early do this! Strategy is the key.

5:00 a.m. Observe  your humans sleeping activity at dawns early light LOL.
Creep on the floor, and leap high in the air on the bed, landing softly.
Gently, creep beside your human and meow (using your highest octave pitch) in their ear!

If that doesn't alert them, look for an exposed foot and bit it.

This will really annoy them and you'll get what YOU WANT!
