Hello MY Darlings,

The excitement fills the air and imagination drifts to cities, places and things far away!
Sir Knight bring home the treats from afar!

A place to dream, and visit old friends!

Diva's YOU need to take their own advise. So DO I.

"PAWS" FOR CREATIVE THOUGHT!
Planning begins on my favorite :"PAWS for ADVICE notebook.

Every writer needs several of those, plenty of PAWS FOR THOUGHT:

In this blog I invite humans, felines and canines to tell me about your favorite city, and share your reflections in a sentence
1.Grab your THINKING CAPS, get your notebooks out and PAWS FOR thought,

 and WRITE!

2.Include your City  and why it is special to YOU, in the COMMENT SECTION of this blog page.  A round of "A PLAWS" goes to YOU.

                 3. Share the blog with your friend and connect!

Friday Advice: The Beach - Flip Over Flip Flops!!!

May 31, 2012

Hello MY Darling!

Well, MY advise is simply this!

"Friday's are for having fun......call your friends, shut the door, take a nice car ride to the Beach!  May 31, a special day.....I dedicate this to my Auntie Karen....her birthday is today!

Check out the local ice-cream places (there are plenty)!!!

I'm ready for ICE CREAM!         Watch the human and children through the window, lick YOUR lips look sweetly (innocently) and your human companion might...might get you a little bowl of your own.
Hit the road running!

Well, well, yes we do have the occasional treat in MY kingdom, the shear fun is ENJOYING with those you love!
British Beach Huts

In England there is a special ice-cream affectionately called a "99".  Here is the "real scoop"  It used to cost that? The standard cone, filled with soft serve
Brighton Beach UK: Beloved "99" (cost 99 pence)

The "99" theory...according to my UK sources:  In the UK everybody knows what comes with a '99', but a newcomer to these shores who wonders at the name's provenance is sure to be baffled.

Earlier this week, a Magazine reader from London wrote in to ask this very question, prompting a flurry of responses - all positing different theories. So which is right?

The ice cream in question has gone by that name since 1930, when Cadbury's launched a shorter version of its Flake bar - called a Flake 99 - for the ice cream trade.

Which does rather seem to blow one theory - that the bar is exactly 99mm long - out of the water. The UK is only now edging towards metrification - 70-odd years ago, everything was in imperial measures.

Ditto the suggestion that back in the day they cost 99p. True in the 1990s, but in 1930, nothing cost 99p - it was pre-decimalisation, remember.
Ness: Which flavor will I have today

Another theory goes that the initials of ice cream are IC, which is one way to write 99 in Roman numerals. But the convention is to write it XCIX - but it's possible this was ignored or not know.

I wonder if anyone remembers "Magpie Ices" Ness Uncle George knew about that ..no wonder she loves ice-cream!

Theories aside -- let's just wiggle our toes in the sand, have a picnic and fall asleep....(day dreaming)!

The valiant quest:  to try and eat  chocolate before the ice-cream melts and runs down your arm....squealing with laughter and delight!!!!  (well, yes that has happened to me...lots of time).
[Adults please don't read this it can be an be embarrassing]..

I love watching 2 and 3 year old children....all that melting ice cream around their mouths...it's enough to make your roll on the floor laughing (without being tickled LOL)!!!

Like cats and catnip...........

Vanessa, Charlie, Harry circa 1961

My opinion you say. perhaps -- when I'm DONE!

Let's ask Ness for her opinion??

Well the Royal decree from the kingdom this week is:

"Go forth.....have fun......

Remember: to connect with friends and visit here soon!

Do what Cats do best -- HAVE FUN!

Dear Diva - Feature Question of the Week: Integration of New Family Member

Hello My Darlings!

I have an announcement......

I am adding a "Special Feature" to my blog called "Dear Diva".

I will feature ONE of your favorite questions.  You may send them to the following: divapaws4advise@gmail.com.

The subject today is: Integration and how you introduce and welcome a new family member

Who this New Divo gracing my presence
As with any human relationship, forming them and creating a positive bond takes time. With humans a handshake or a polite "How Do YOU Do" breaks the ice.  Now with feline and canine species this take a little more time... (washes her face with paws and thinks).

According to my resources:
Feline Social Behavior and  Feline  Organization
Domestic cats tend to be solitary. They do not usually form large groups with complex social structures as do dogs. Cats are also very territorial by nature, some more so than others. However because their social organizations is somewhat flexible, some cats are relatively tolerant of sharing their house and territory with multiple cats. It is not uncommon for a cat to tolerate certain other family cats, but not get along with others in the house. The factors that determine how well cats will get along together are not fully understood.

Cats who are well socialized, meaning they had many pleasant experiences with other cats during kitten hood, will likely be more sociable than cats who have not been around many other cats. On the other hand, "street cats' who are in the habit of fighting with other cats in order to defend their territory and food resources, may not do well in a multi-cat household.

Mae West Quote: Too Much of a Good Thing is Wonderful
Getting along is simply a test of 'good manners'.  Having worked in the theatre for many years and dealing with Diva and Divos.  This brings strong personalities together --- often in confined spaces.

The coolest new Divo in town.
I WILL have YOU under MY  spell.

You can still maintain your strong character traits with the new arrival.  A little dignity is sugar of diplomacy. The little nod of the head and a gentle bow will put you ahead in a healthy relationship.

Who knows, you may become best friends, perhaps sharing food!  I'll speak more about this later.'

Wow ...we worked
 through the integration phase.
My Darlings, my word for you today is simply this: 'grace becomes YOU'.

Ciao ......watch out for my next post.........................

 Hello My Darlings!

A very happy Friday to you all!  I think I will organize a little luncheon with friends.

Engineering challenge!

I simply love today, as it segues into the weekend - what adventures await: Shopping, movies, pizza, salmon, milk, a trip in the car, visits from friends all of these are possibilities! These are the great 'icing on the cake' elements I so look forward to.

The sunshine dances on the window pane adding a smile as they look out onto the city below.

Luncheon awaits!  Get the chauffeur ..........(she announces... running around the room)

We are off to Oakville (a visit to my humans childhood past). Graceful oak trees adorning this very palatial town, brimming of adoring shops with delights that tickle the whiskers and the heart (not to mention) Bernard Callebaut then off to Burlington for luncheon.

Perhaps an ice-cream by the Bronte Harbour....

Capturing The Moment!

  • Hello My Darlings!
As I was lounging here on a Sunday, catching some well deserved MUSE time.  I started pondering about the expression "Capturing The Moment"....
Dancing of Sugar Mice In MY Sleep

Decisive Moment - Ah Fresh Butter!
well of course what else would "I" be thinking about dear readers:  Food, Mice, Birds and anything that would be in my reach or better yet MY MOUTH.    Now, now WHO IS the shutter-bug with the camera? "Capturing The Moment Indeed"...well excuse me!

The expression conjures up many a metaphor (yes I play around with those too including field mice): 1) Food 2) Hunting 3) Camera

Diva Ness and Divo Toulouse Chilling
 4) Painting 5) Writing: dabbling in the MUSE (my favorite).  MY human found this for me: 'Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: "What! You, too? Thought I was the only one." .    It really is all about Carpe Diem all Divas and Divos know about this.   The best way is to simply 'be' and enjoy the moment with friends!
Diva Sings "Circle of Friendship Aria"

"Circle of Friendship: We look upon one another when we have the need to share. And find the joy of friendship grow each time we show our care"    Doesn't that make you PURR!

So find your PURFECT friend and capture the momento.

Three Divas and El Divo
So Darlings.......GO...grab your 'best buddies .......have a SMASHING good time!

Salon Style -Celebrating Family Day - February 20th 2012

Hello My Darlings!   Calling all Diva's and Divo's:

Sundays I always love.  It can be a quiet day to reflect, run errands,
go to Church, hob nob with a celeb.... or simply chase mice...better yet lounge!!!

Musing about Feb 20, 2012
I started musing on the subjects of friends, families and gatherings. February 20th is 'Family Day'. My human explained. " In Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta (introduced in 1990 to allow workers to spend more time with their families) the holiday of "Family Day" is observed on the third Monday in February. One of the reasons for introducing Family Day was that there was a long period when there were no holidays from New Year's Day until Good Friday....well Diva what do you want to do?".  Gatherings can happen when they are centered around holidays too.  Tomorrow is also "Presidents Day" in America.  Special wishes go to all my feline and canine friends there - woo hoo!

I'm all for this.  Keeping in touch with my friends is SO IMPORTANT....a change for a party!! Woo hoo.Think of how busy the dog parks will be tomorrow.

Giving the social circles I like to travel with...the French have got it right:  "Salons, commonly associated with French literary and philosophical movements of the 17th and 18th centuries, were carried on until quite recently, in urban settings, among like-minded people".

Réunion de dames, Abraham Bosse, 17th century.

A salon is a gathering of people (humans) under the roof of an inspiring host, held partly to amuse one another and partly to refine taste and increase their knowledge of the participants through conversation. A man called Horace , "either to please or to educate" ("aut delectare aut prodesse est").

I never refuse an offering of milk
This was my favorite place to play, lingering with delightful  friends and conversation. Our tummies filled with smoked salmon and organic milk.       The gently breezes, tickled my whiskers as I fell into restful slumber.

Toulouse and Aunt Nina

Aunt Ness - In the MUSE
Who knows you might meet a Celeb
Where, what or how you gather doesn't matter...................the importance is to connect and share!

So Darlings:  Your mission is this 1) Pick up the phone 2) Write a letter   3) Arrange a Salon  4) Practice the art of meow conversations!

Have a smashing good time, any time is a change for a Salon..................see you next time.
