Salon Style -Celebrating Family Day - February 20th 2012

Hello My Darlings!   Calling all Diva's and Divo's:

Sundays I always love.  It can be a quiet day to reflect, run errands,
go to Church, hob nob with a celeb.... or simply chase mice...better yet lounge!!!

Musing about Feb 20, 2012
I started musing on the subjects of friends, families and gatherings. February 20th is 'Family Day'. My human explained. " In Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta (introduced in 1990 to allow workers to spend more time with their families) the holiday of "Family Day" is observed on the third Monday in February. One of the reasons for introducing Family Day was that there was a long period when there were no holidays from New Year's Day until Good Friday....well Diva what do you want to do?".  Gatherings can happen when they are centered around holidays too.  Tomorrow is also "Presidents Day" in America.  Special wishes go to all my feline and canine friends there - woo hoo!

I'm all for this.  Keeping in touch with my friends is SO IMPORTANT....a change for a party!! Woo hoo.Think of how busy the dog parks will be tomorrow.

Giving the social circles I like to travel with...the French have got it right:  "Salons, commonly associated with French literary and philosophical movements of the 17th and 18th centuries, were carried on until quite recently, in urban settings, among like-minded people".

Réunion de dames, Abraham Bosse, 17th century.

A salon is a gathering of people (humans) under the roof of an inspiring host, held partly to amuse one another and partly to refine taste and increase their knowledge of the participants through conversation. A man called Horace , "either to please or to educate" ("aut delectare aut prodesse est").

I never refuse an offering of milk
This was my favorite place to play, lingering with delightful  friends and conversation. Our tummies filled with smoked salmon and organic milk.       The gently breezes, tickled my whiskers as I fell into restful slumber.

Who knows you might meet a Celeb
Where, what or how you gather doesn't matter...................the importance is to connect and share!

So Darlings:  Your mission is this 1) Pick up the phone 2) Write a letter   3) Arrange a Salon  4) Practice the art of meow conversations!

Have a smashing good time, any time is a change for a Salon..................see you next time.

Snow in Toronto - A Wedding Cake Day!

Good morning!  Where is my 'warm milk'  ???
 Hello My Darlings!

I was up early taking photographs of my beautiful scene outside my window.   (Stretching - yawn)...I couldn't believe my eyes.

The snow was a white as my paws! I quickly gathered my senses, wiggled my whiskers.

What a delightful surprise....................

A Wedding Cake Day - Cars are beautifully iced!
Dreaming of Sugar Plum Fairiies
The clean beauty took my breath away completely, magical as any fairy tale story.  Nature has done her handy-work.

I"t's a wedding cake day! I view from my window is glorious. A fresh blanket of snow has adorned the landscape. Red traffic lights beam with smiling faces like a Constable painting (he uses red in his painting to capture the viewer attention). Oh to record this moment in time"!

Eat a hearty breakfast..................................it's play time.........

:) Hint:  don't forget to get your mommy/mummy to dress you warmly........grab those mittens...and await the hot chocolate upon your return :)

Bye for now my Darlings..................

Wardrobe Challenges - Life Lessons Learned!

Hello My Darlings!

I am delighted to share with you my recent experience with "wardrobe challenges".

Oh yes, like most Diva's and Divo's (to a lesser degree) they do happen when you LEAST expect it!
In this case, it had nothing to do with the endearing PROP DEPARTMENT at the theatre where I perform, not my WARDROBE MISTRESS!

Enter stage right....here it is:

Needless to say, as I found out my character had a eye infection........
Momma "GET ME OUTTA .....HERE" don't just stand there  H E L P ME!
The Director informed me the show must go on.............."Diva get over it no more HISSY fits from you".

I told the Director: "This is not in my contract"

Alas, I tried walking in the outfit.....and kept tripping over my 'dress'.  Frustrated, I began thinking what my human had said recently" costumes need be the right length; cassocks can be problematic in CHURCH too.. if they are too long you can't navigate up steps!!

Right , how do I apply this to my situation?  I couldn't see where I was WALKING.. or going.  Use your INTUITION AND INTELLIGENCE .   "Clear heads prevail don't they"????

Diva escapes to the solitude of her DRESSING ROOM!
I flew into a emotional rage, skidding into my dressing room.  After tea and cap nip I managed to get myself into character.

I got into my character! Bringing myself into full DIVA mode. I enabled myself to get into character, drawing on my own experience with an eye infection!  I finished my play and it was a stunning performance!

:) Hint: Darlings there are often lessons to be learned when dealing with wardrobe challenges; draw on your own experiences, work through them and keep those PAWS TAPPING! :)  You never know you can share this with your young understudy!!!  Humility keep us graceful.

See you next time...........................................wink....wink.................:)

Noise Avoidance - Fire Alarms

 Hello Darlings!

I've been asked to report on the  issue of
'N O I S E   A V O I D A N CE'... to be exact those pesky FIRE ALARMS that humans think is necessary!  As an Urban Diva, while I agree this is required for safety, it is unavoidable   As my auntie would say "2 annoying".

My ears......yikes - how loud does it have to be???
Where is my Swiss toque?

RESTING MY EARS!

ALTERNATE SOLUTIONS  (be Coolio don't panic) :
1) Find a laundry bag and hide;
2) Under the Bed;
3) Closet;
4) Curl up with your human companion
5) Indulge in a bag of catnip - that usually FIXES MOST THINGS!

The BEST SOLUTION  if you know ahead of time is:  TAKE A VACATION DAY!

If all else fails, go to the theatre and do some IMPROV.

Don't worry about it Darlings...its usually OVER SOONER THAN YOU EXPECT.

:) HINT: Rest assured, your kind human will give you a nice dish of WARM MILK or a treat of FISH:)

See you next time Darlings........................I'm off to the theatre!

Sunday Night At The Opera!

Hello My Darlings!

A very good evening to you!

Welcome to Sunday Night At The Opera -

I've chosen that title this evening on the account that I had to use my extraordinary skills and talents of my huge Operatic voice just to get attention.  Humans can be so exasperating, at the best of times.    I almost had an Aria of Mozarts "La Traviata".  I even tried singing base notes, which almost ruined my fine soprano voice.

:) Hint: be persistent with your "Voice" not matter what it takes, get attention, get food. :)

I'm enjoying a delightful gently simmered Sole of the Day entree......happy eating.

Sous Chef Experience - Diva Knows Best

Hello My Darlings!

I had the experience of a Sous Chef in my kitchen:

Sous Chef:  sous-chef (s sh f , s -sh f ). n. pl. sous-chefs (-sh fs , -sh f ). The chef who is second in authority in a restaurant or kitchen, ranking below the head chef.
(Diva's have the LAST word on this)

First hand experience is best when it comes to the kitchen! This is what you need to know:

Rule #1 - be attentive to sounds!
A . The opening of the fridge door; B. dishes being cleared from the drainer - getting ready for cooking;
C. "zip gagunk' is the opening of the tin of food; D. gastronomic odors of chicken, fish, or asparagus - ding-dong breakfast, lunch or dinner IS in the making;  E. 'tap, tap, tap' noise of fork hitting saucer means my meal is about to be served; F. the sound of the coffee grinder - coffee segues to the promise of M I L K.

You might want to share this with your canine friends - LOL :)

Happy foraging and eating..............until next time
